Oooweee, it’s getting hot out there! Now that summer is here, the only thing we want to do these days is swim, swim and swim. Cooling down in some refreshing water is our favorite way to beat the heat, and we love taking a visit to Typhoon Texas. Located in Pflugerville, just about 20 minutes north of Austin, this is a great place to splash the day away. Read on for an overview of our experience & the chance to win passes…

As with any big park like this, we arrived right when it opened in the morning. It’s our best bet for beating the crowds, maximizing our fun-in-the-sun day, and getting the most out of the admission price.
We were impressed with the easy-to-manage layout. It’s not anywhere near as large as Schlitterbahn, which made it simple to navigate and gave us the opportunity to cover all territory without the feeling of rushing from one thing to the next. The park is a nice size for a day of playing and relaxing with the family.
When it comes to water-play, Typhoon Texas has it all. We love a good lazy river and a wave pool! We tested out all the slides and had a blast. The splash play areas for younger kids are really fun. We were happy to see such a nice mix of activities to appeal to kids of all ages. Plus, everything felt really clean and there were lifeguards everywhere. Check out this full list of attractions!

In addition, the new attraction for 2019 is the PFlowRider Surf Simulator! This one’s for the thrill-seekers who want to give stand-up or body surfing a try. In this area of the park, there’s a few new activities, including corn hole boards, music and a mobile bar on weekends.

There are plenty of places to eat within Typhoon Texas where you enjoy burgers, corn dogs, BBQ, pizza, shaved ice, and more. Our kids were quite pleased with food options. Adults can even enjoy a frosty beverage at the bar. You are also welcome to leave and re-enter the park (don’t forget to get your hand stamped) if you wish to walk to nearby restaurant to dine instead (there are many options in the shopping area directly across the street). Do note that no outside food is allowed.

While we were there, we also enjoy listening to live music. Be sure to check the park’s calendar of events for a listing of free concerts as well as Movie Nights and the new Dueling Piano Nights.
